Giving Back

Good psychology should serve everyone — not just those who can afford it. I’m committed to making evidence-based psychological science more accessible, supporting underserved communities, and strengthening the profession.

HGAPS — Helping Give Away Psychological Science

I’m the co-founder of HGAPS, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making evidence-based psychological science freely accessible worldwide. HGAPS develops open-access resources, fact sheets, and training materials used by clinicians, students, and the public across 50+ countries.

HGAPS was born from a simple belief: the science that helps people understand their mental health shouldn’t be locked behind paywalls or jargon. It should be available to everyone.

Through HGAPS, I worked with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), and the Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP, APA Division 53) to develop and deploy free, validated screening tools for mental health conditions. The DBSA screening center, rebuilt in partnership with HGAPS and UNC, has been used more than 35,000 times. These tools make evidence-based screening accessible to anyone, anywhere — no referral or insurance required.

UnlockingADHD

I’m a contributor to UnlockingADHD, a Singapore-based community initiative focused on raising awareness and providing support for adults and families navigating ADHD. Through public talks, workshops, and community events, UnlockingADHD helps bridge the gap between clinical knowledge and everyday life. I have given talks for the community and was featured on their Differently Wired Books series.
