Privacy Policy

Before this page asks anything of you, here is what matters most: I want you to feel safe using this website. I collect as little as I can, I never sell anything to anyone, and you can ask me what I hold about you whenever you like.

The short version

  • I only collect personal information you choose to give me, plus the basic technical data the website needs to run.
  • I use it to reply to you, arrange appointments, and run the practice. Nothing else.
  • I never sell, rent, or trade your information, and I never share it for advertising.
  • The online booking tool passes your booking details to Google so the scheduler can work. The screening tools send nothing, they score entirely in your browser.
  • You can ask to see, correct, or delete what I hold, or withdraw your consent, by emailing clinic@lightfull-psychology.com.

Who this policy is from

This website, lightfull-psychology.com, is run by Lightfull Psychology (UEN 202339132R), a solo clinical psychology practice in Singapore led by Dr. Ong Mian Li. Where this policy says “I” or “the practice,” it means Lightfull Psychology. Where it says “you,” it means anyone who visits or uses this website.

This policy explains how I handle personal data collected through the website, in line with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

It covers the website only. Once you become a client, the personal and clinical information I hold about you, assessment records, session notes, medical and psychological history, is governed by the practice’s Informed Consent document, which goes into more detail on confidentiality, storage, and your rights as a client.

What I collect

Information you give me directly. When you email me, use the booking tool, complete the referral form, sign the informed consent form, or leave a comment on the blog, you may share things like your name, email address, phone number, and whatever you choose to write to me. The referral form, which is meant for other professionals, also asks for information about the person being referred, including their age and presenting concerns.

Screening questionnaire responses. This site offers self-scoring screening tools. They work out your result entirely inside your own browser, your answers are not sent to me, and they are not stored anywhere. The screening tools are educational. They are not a diagnosis.

Technical information collected automatically. Like most websites, this one records basic technical data when you visit: your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and similar log information. The site is hosted on WordPress.com, and WordPress.com’s built-in statistics tell me, in aggregate, how many people visit and which pages they read. I use this only to understand what is useful and to keep the site working.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. This site uses a small number of cookies, mostly set by WordPress.com, to keep the site running and to produce the aggregate visitor statistics described above. You can set your browser to refuse some or all cookies, or to alert you when one is being set. Some parts of the site may work less smoothly if you do.

How I use your information

I use the personal data collected through this website to:

  • reply to your enquiry and stay in touch with you;
  • arrange, confirm, or reschedule appointments;
  • receive and respond to professional referrals;
  • record informed consent;
  • show you your screening results and review them;
  • run, maintain, and improve the website; and
  • meet my legal, regulatory, and professional obligations.

I will not use your information for any other purpose without asking you first.

When I share information, and when I don’t

I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data, and I do not share it for advertising.

I do rely on a few service providers to run the website, and information passes through them only so they can do their job:

  • Google. The online booking tool and the map directions on the site are Google services. When you use them, Google handles that data on my behalf. The screening tools do not send anything to Google, or anywhere else.
  • Automattic (WordPress.com). The site is hosted on WordPress.com, which stores the website’s data and provides its visitor statistics.

These providers may store data on servers outside Singapore. Where that happens, I take reasonable steps so that your data is given a standard of protection comparable to what the PDPA requires.

Beyond that, I will only disclose personal data where the law requires or permits it, such as in response to a valid court order. Information you share with me in a clinical context is also subject to the confidentiality terms in the Informed Consent document.

How I protect your information

I use reasonable physical, electronic, and administrative measures to protect the information I hold. No website or internet transmission is ever completely secure, so I cannot promise absolute security, but I take protecting your data seriously, and I limit what I collect in the first place.

How long I keep it

I keep website enquiries and related correspondence only as long as the purpose they were sent for reasonably needs, then dispose of them securely. Once you are a client, clinical records are kept for at least seven years from your last session, in line with professional guidelines. This is described in the Informed Consent document.

Your rights under the PDPA

At any time, you can:

  • ask what I hold about you, and how it has been used or disclosed;
  • ask me to correct anything inaccurate or incomplete;
  • withdraw your consent to my collecting, using, or disclosing your personal data.

To do any of these, email me at clinic@lightfull-psychology.com. I will respond as soon as I reasonably can. If you withdraw consent, I will explain what that means for any service you have asked for. For some things, such as a clinical record the law requires me to keep, I may not be able to delete everything straight away.

Children and young people

Much of my work is with children and teenagers, but this website is not designed to collect personal data directly from children. Where a service involves someone under 18, including the use of the screening tools, a parent or legal guardian should be involved and gives consent on the young person’s behalf, as set out in the Informed Consent document.

This site sometimes links out to other organisations’ websites and resources. I am not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and I would encourage you to read their own privacy policies before sharing anything with them.

I may update this policy from time to time. When I do, I will change the date below and post the revised version here. Using the website after a change means you accept the updated policy.

This policy is governed by the laws of Singapore.
